Your Child's Classroom

Get Permission from the school administration and/or teacher first. Bring cupcakes, or cookies shaped like hands or some kind of treat.  Read the book  Different Just Like Me by Lori Mitchell. Published by Charlesbridge, 1999.  This book is widely available and respected as a wonderful tool for teaching children respect for all people.  For related teaching materials, 5-day lesson plan and color pages, visit www.differentjustlikeme.com. Talk to your child's classmates about what it's like to have a Brachial Plexus Injury.  Have them try it out for a while by not using one of their arms or by putting one arm up in the air like it is splinted.

Hand out bookmarks.   Hand out silver ribbons
