LITERARY CONTEST


The purpose of the Brachial Plexus Injury Literary Contest is to promote awareness among all age groups and encourage our community to creatively participate in expressing their thoughts about brachial plexus injuries. All topics must be related to brachial plexus injuries.

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. One entry per category permitted. 
  2. Age Groups: (a) 5-10     (b) 11-13      (c) 14-18     (d) 18+
  3. Categories:    (a) Poetry    (b) Fiction    (c) Non-fiction
  4. Poetry entries must be a maximum of one page in length, printed or typed, double-spaced on an 8 ½" x 11" or A4 international size paper. Entries from young children can be written on lined paper.   
  5. Fiction and Non-fiction entries must be between two and ten pages in length. A parent may edit an entry from a young child for spelling and punctuation.
  6. Any illustrations that accompany the text must be original and created by the author of the story. Art work may be in pencil, pen, marker, or crayon.
  7. Each entry must have a separate cover page with the title, author's name (parent's name included for minors), age group, address, phone number and e-mail.
  8. Individual entries can be mailed in a 9" by 12" envelope (or normal international A4 sized envelope) and/or entries created at a brachial plexus picnic can be mailed by the picnic coordinator to UBPN, Inc. 1610 Kent Street, Kent, OH 44240 (email address: info@ubpn.org). The deadline for submitting an entry is ____________________.
  9. International entries must be written in English. Entries will be judged by a U.S. jury. Three semifinalists from each age group will be chosen and then a final selection will be made.
  10. Entries will not be returned to participants and will remain the property of UBPN, Inc.
  11. Winners will be notified by ______________________ by telephone or email.
  12. UBPN, Inc. reserves the right to publish poetry and stories in the Outreach Newsletter and on the www.ubpn.org website.
  13. Criteria for Literary Contest winners:

(a) must meet the guidelines set for the contest
(b) written content must be bpi related
(c) any pictures/drawings submitted with a literary piece must reflect the content of the written work
(d) a majority consensus by a panel of professionals with an interest in bpi.

14.     UBPN reserves the right to not declare a winner if there aren't any suitable entries in a 
          given age group.
