Description

This directory has been compiled through the efforts of UBPN's In Touch Program. It is an ongoing effort and updates are made frequently. The Medical Resource Directory is coordinated by Kathleen Kennedy, Nancy Birk and the committee chairperson, Kathleen Mallozzi.

Goal

The goal of this project is to provide a comprehensive resource resources to aid families and individuals in their search for specialized care. Lists of BPI medical specialists including therapists are provided. UBPN envisions the list will be broadened to include licensed holistic practitioners and therapists.

UBPN believes patient rights information is also an important medical resource for BPI families and individuals. With permission from Parade and Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld, we have reprinted an article they published, "Patients, Know Your Rights" that focuses on important questions to ask when selecting a physician.

Methodology

All known brachial plexus specialists/therapists were sent a questionnaire requesting information regarding their practice and experience with BPI. The information received has been compiled in the medical and therapist directories provided below. Responses are still being submitted and changes will be made as they are received. Many of the physicians included references to their published research that are included in a comprehensive bibliography which is available for review.

To suggest a physician/medical clinic not in the directory, please send Kathleen Kennedy the names and contact information (kathleen@ubpn.org) so that a questionnaire may be sent to them. Before suggesting a name, please check the list of doctors who have been contacted but have not yet responded.

Therapist Directory

The In Touch committee is working to expand the Therapist Directory, but the list so far is limited to those practicing in the United States. To suggest someone not on this list, especially in countries other than the United States, please send Kathleen Kennedy names and contact information (kathleen@ubpn.org) so that she may send them the questionnaire.
