Florida BPI Specialists/Clinics
J.L. Borrero, MD
When was your Brachial Plexus Injury Clinic established? I have been treating patients with brachial plexus problems in Florida since 1978. Identify what specialties related to brachial plexus injuries are represented by practitioners working in your clinic including physical/occupational therapists, if any. Occupational therapist, Orthopedic surgeon, neurosurgeon, consultants are available. Also assistants. What do you/your clinic specialize in treating?
Indicate the total number of brachial plexus patients you/your clinic has evaluated since your establishment: Number of children (Obstetrical brachial plexus injuries): over 100 Number of children (Trauma or other brachial plexus injuries): less than 10 Number of adults (Obstetrical brachial plexus injuries): 10-20 Number of adults (Trauma or other brachial plexus injuries): over 100 State your philosophy regarding evaluation, referral and treatment of obstetrical brachial plexus injuries in children. Patients should be evaluated early before the 2nd month (preferably at 1 month). Support and information is important. State your philosophy regarding evaluation, referral and treatment of trauma or other brachial plexus injuries in children. Each case should be evaluated and treated as a specific individual case. Appropriate consultations and opinions should be seeked but there should be ONE person exchange. State your philosophy regarding evaluation, referral and treatment of obstetrical brachial plexus injuries in adults. Same as above. State your philosophy regarding evaluation, referral and treatment of trauma or other brachial plexus injuries in adults. I prefer early intervention. State your philosophy regarding pain management and brachial plexus injuries. Must be individualized and considered. Indicate research efforts (include dates please) conducted by you specific to brachial plexus injuries.
Indicate any other facts that you feel would help families and individuals understand your practice. I believe in personal attention. Parents have access to nurse and doctor. It is NOT a big institution. Do you accept any national/governmental payment for services or are you enrolled in any state medicaid plans? Please provide information on these plans and include which states you are enrolled in for medicaid services. Florida Medicare or Medicaid services are accepted on an individual basis as Medicaid reimbursements are abusive and offensive. |
