State your philosophy regarding evaluation, referral and treatment of obstetrical brachial plexus injuries in children.

We prefer to see infants as early as possible. If an infant shows improvement, we follow them every month until we determine surgical repair is not indicated. Our therapists provide recommendations about the therapy at home. If an infant does not show any improvement for the first two months, we recommend early exploration of the brachial plexus for possible repair. If an infant shows improvement, we make determination about the need for surgery at the age of 6 months. We follow patients who undergo surgical repair of the brachial plexus for 3-4 years.
State your philosophy regarding pain management and brachial plexus injuries.

Pain is not a major problem in infants with birth brachial plexus injury.
Indicate research efforts (include dates please) conducted by you specific to brachial plexus injuries.

We conducted a prospective study of who require surgical repair of brachial plexus after birth brachial plexus injury in late 1990s.
Indicate any other facts that you feel would help families and individuals understand your practice.

Our comprehensive team provides high quality care to infants with birth brachial plexus injury.
