| This story is New Story submitted by carole on September 14, 1999 at 09:00:26: carole is 33, from pennsylvania. Family:married, 3 kids i am new to this site but boy do the stories sound familiar. anyone who may have had a similar experience please e mail me. my six year old son was born during an emergency c-section due to a prolapsed cord. there was a loss of oxygen which caused a mild left hemiparesis. also during delivery he suffered a brachial plexus injury. he spent three years in physical, speech and occupational therapies. he had done remarkably well and we thought this was mostly behind us. wrong. one day i noticed my son's left arm was shorter than his right. x-rays confirmed that his humerus bone was not growing properly. the doctor wanted to wait a year and compare x-rays to see at what rate the arm is growing. we are due to return to the doctor soon and i am fearful our son will need surgery to lengthen his arm. this is major surgery. are there any other processes or treatments to stimulate growth? does anyone have any advice? thanks | ||
