Melissa Armstrong For Mom is me 31, mom 51, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.
Family:There is Mom, Grandmother, and my immediate family

I was reading through many of the stories here and my heart, prayers and love goes out to you all.
My story is different from you all, or so I think. It began May 21st 1999, when my mother was involved in an auto accident. She was diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury in her left arm and unfortunately, she also broke her right shoulder. With no way to move she was literally, a child to be taken care of. The stress of the accident and the resulting injuries has been very hard on all of us. My mother was a vibrant, self sufficent person who has been reduced to a former shell of herself. I am worried about her mental health as well as her physical being. I see her try so hard with physical and occupational therapy and make little or no progress. She is in constant pain with very little reprieve even with perscription drugs. To make matters worse she is without insurance and on state assistance for the first time in her life and the medical staff we have seen have be rude and condescending about treating her for this injury. Tomorrow, we go for a second opinion from another neurologist who has agreed to see her. I only pray they can help her and relieve her pain to any degree.
We are trying to find information on brachial plexus injuries from accidents in adults and it seems most of the information I seem to be able to locate is centered on children. I understand that this type of injury is based primarily on injuries as a result of childbirth but I was hoping someone would know where to turn for information in BPI in adults.

Thank you in advance for any and all help you can give. And again the best of luck to us all.
