| This story is New Story submitted by DOLORES FUNG on October 23, 1999 at 21:06:56: DOLORES FUNG is , from Canada. Family:daughter Tracy & grandaughter Arianna My beautiful grandaughter Arianna was diagnosed with BP when she was born. My daughter still blames herself to this day all though she did everything right during her pregancy. I know it was the doctor (substitute one) negligence during my daughter's delivery that caused it. When they informed us she had BP and a 10% chance of ever having use of her hands we were all in shock, The doctor then proceeded to tell us that she would probably need therapy and surgery when she was about one year. We took her a few time to be assessed and therapy for the first year, then just before her first birthday and she was scheduled for surgery she ate a cookie with her left hand and the doctors said she didn't have to ahve surgery anymore. My grandaughter is now two years and doing fairly well using her left had. she still doesn't have full use of it, she still can't stretch her arm above her head or reach for stuff. my heart breaks when i watch her trying to pull up her pants or comb her hair. But both her mother and I thank God everyday that besides her arm she is beautiful and healthy otherwise and full of life. It is also nice to know that they are other familes that feel the same way we do. We didn't realise that they were so much BP babies out there and hope that they all keep faith and hang in there. thanks and bye!!!
