Family:

My son was born by C-Section in early August at 9 lb.5oz.

Within a matter of weeks a noticed that he used his left arm almost exclusively. However, he did appear to have
some level of control over his right arm/hand but showed definite left arm preference.

Being concerned I contacted neurologist who says that the tightness in his right arm/shoulder is not typlical of
Erbs but he is underwent a cranial ultrasound and his shortly to do a CT scan. He physio. is going well and he has
certainly improved his range and usage of his right arm. He now sucks his right thumb and can reach out
and touch/pick up objects (13 weeks). His main problem seems to be tightness in the shoulder and upper arm rather
than paralysis.

I am still very worried that he will never develop full usage and no-one seems to be able to give us any indication
of his chances of full recovery. Having read this site I wonder if I should be pressing for surgical intervention, but am worried about
leaving it too long. Suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you.
Suz.
