jenny bradley is 41, from uk.
Family:3 kids

I have never used the web to access information about my condition, indeed I have never sought any information from anywhere.

Most of the stories you have seem to involve babies and have been submitted by their carers. I was able bobied until the age of 21, when I received severe injuries to my arm as a result of a motorcycle accident. I didn't know the extent of my problem for a few days, I thought my arm was just broken. When the hospital staff told me, I was devastated. My right arm is completely paralysed from shoulder to hand. I was right-handed, I imagined I wouldn't be able to work, have children, drive....20 years later I confess I hardly think of it. I have 3 children, all of which have been born since my accident. I have trouble chasnging nappies, and all my babies have been early crawlers and walkers, I think because I quite simply can't carry them around. I can do everything else, it took about 6 months to re-learn writing(my left-handed writing is exactly the same as it was with my right hand). The only things I have trouble with are tying shoelaces and peeling potatoes-my kids eat a lot of rice and pasta! I still think of myself as being right handed, and forget my problem. One aspect of the injury is the mental one, 'handedness' is set early in life and changing it can cause depression and 'ghost'pain, although research is still being done. To sum up, though, it still wasn't as lifechanging as having a baby, and of all the things that have happened in my (fairly normal)life, it certainly isn't the worst. I'd love to hear from any other adult sufferers, and am prepared to give info to anyone who is worried about a childs future.
