Please do not wait a few months! Get medical help now for your baby. I know it will be hard on your wife,
being your first child and all, and because her hormones are out of whack right now, but time is precious
right now. I don't know where you are from, but try calling any Childrens hospitals in your area, or a
shriners hospital. Ask them for someone who deals with nerve injuries IN A CHILD, or else you'll get
someone who deals with adults. Tell them there is severe damage to the brachial plexus. Call a hospital
and ask to speak to a pediatric specialist. They can direct you to someone, or see you themselves.
Check into Physical Therapists/Occupational Therapists who deal exclusively in pediatrics. You've got to
start making calls asap! No one will do it for you. Keep focused! Think positive, it really helps.
My son was 3 1/2 months before we finally found the right specialist. She referred us onto a surgeon, and
then to another surgeon. (see my posting of 1/10/00 for Jeremy's story, my son) Don't give up! Think
positive! Also, call a lawyer in your state to find out what the statute of limitations is in your state. Then
you'll know how much time you have. If it's over a year, then just really focus on finding a good doctor.
Keep a journal of everything. Have your wife start writing down everything from the time she was pregnant,
each doctor visit, etc. Because if you do end up suing him, it could be years from now, and you'll be
thankful that you have it written down. Don't trust your memory! Believe me, it doesn't work.
Good luck to you and your wife. I will keep you in my prayers.
Peggie
