Story by: Joanne in Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland

I have a daughter, Anna, just turned 18 months. We had a very difficult birth (vacuum and forceps)and the result being dislocated hips, infection in one hip and erbs palsy on the left arm. Nobody noticed that she had a erbs palsy until she was rushed to the hospital at 7 days old with an infection in the hip and they carried out more tests all over her body.

18 months later, physiotherapy once every 1 month and no trips to the hospital, I have now managed to get Anna to a specialist in London (Mr Birch) whom was very good and informative - I finally know what and how erbs palsy is all about and it wasn't my fault as the gynaecologist told me.

Anna is to have an operation. She has a permanent bend in her elbow so the consultant has to put back her dislocated shoulder which was due to a dormant muscle, due to a dormant nerve. She will finally be able to use her hand, elbow and shoulder after a year after the operation.

Could anybody tell me if this is the doctor's fault and if you can do anything about as I am a very angry and disturbed mother.
