Story by: tina in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Our daughter was born 4-25-00. She weighed in at 8 lbs. 11oz. I gained 20 lbs during my pregnancy and was told I was going to have a big baby. My original due date was 5-19-00. But I kept telling the docs that I knew I was further along. I had a total of 4 ultra sounds each one moving my due date up. This was my first pregnancy so I did whatever the doc said. The only request I had was for a C-Section if an assisted delivery would be required. I had heard the horror stories. (Now we have become one) Labor was 12 hours with 4 hours of pushing. Two-three hours before she was born the doctor said she was turned but not to worry. Things were going fine until 6:55am. when they tried to vacuum her (still turned) and I saw her heart rate drop. A nurse jumpped on top of me and 12 people entered the room screaming. The doc said the baby had to come out right NOW. I pushed so hard I popped my jaw out of place. At 7:04 am after 3 vacuum attempts and a 4th degree cut to me out she came. They took her to i
ntensive care and I did not get to hold her until 4:00 pm that day. The next day they told us about the Erb's. They said it would heal in a few months. (We all heard that didn't we) Well one surgery later and one to go I was told I could have a C-section with my next child..... To little to late. Is it me or if a woman can deside to get pregnant, or terminate a pregnancy why can't we deside how our child will come into the world. I asked for a C-Section and was told no.
Thanks for listening. Good luck to all.
