Airport???

Post by hope16_05 »

Is any one else flying in to BWI on the 15th? And do any of you local know how long it would take to get from there to camp?

I am supposed to arrive there at 12:06 on the 15th, and have never been there so I dont really know what to expect, actually I have never flown before.

Any help will be much appreciated,

I live nearby and I would guess about an hour driving from BWI to the conference center (give or take a bit...)

I hope that helps. Have a great time!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Amy,
There's a shuttle service into Washington DC, I know; go to the "Ground Transportation" Information Desk. There will be signs saying "Ground Transportation". When in doubt or confusion, go to your airline desk and ask.Actually anyone in a red vest with airport ID badges can help you. There may be a shuttle service into Chevy Chase too, and then a taxi ride to the 4-H Conference Center on Connecticut Ave. wouldn't cost very much. a shuttle service may even be able to drop you off at the Conference Center. It doesn't hurt to ask.
Flying is a wonderful learning experience and you learn most from asking questions. You are going to have a wonderful time,Amy, but pack your Patience 1st.
Hugs,

Hi, Amy. I checked MapQuest b/c I was considering flying and renting a car from BWI (when you're traveling as a group of 6 people, it seems to end up being cheaper to rent a car from BWI than to use other means of ground transportation). Anyway, here's what I found:

Balt.-Wash. Int'l Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
7062 Friendship Road
Baltimore, MD 21240
410-859-7111
Dist. from Camp: 38 min, 34.0 miles

4-H Conference Center
7100 Connecticut Avenue
Chevy Chase, MD 20815-4934
301-961-2801 / 800-368-7432 (8:30am - 5pm)

Dist. from BWI to Camp: 38 min, 34.0 miles (although I'm sure Sally's info. is more accurate b/c I don't know how well MapQuest factors in traffic)

If you want to findout more info. about the ground transportation from BWI beforehand, go to the BWI airport website http://www.bwiairport.com/ and there's a menu of options under "Ground Transportation." You should find lots of info. and some phone numbers. What airline are you flying? I hope this helps. Can't wait to meet you!

Amy,

Were you planning to go straight to the Rally site on the National Mall from the airport, or skip that and go straight to camp?

I can direct you either way, but the choices differ.
