Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: My son was born on July 1 2011 with a right arm BP injury. He was diagnosed with Erb's palsy at birth and we have been in Physical Therapy since he was a month old. I am looking to connect with others with this injury and discuss treatment options as well as obstacles. Thanks!

14 month old with OBPI possible surgery?

Post by heath416 »

Hello all, I am new to this network. My son was born with a BP injury to his right arm due to shoulder dystocia. He started using his arm at 2 months but has some external rotation issues and ROM issues. We went for a MRI last week as his specialist believes his ball and socket for his shoulder isn't forming right. He has mentioned a tendon transfer surgery several times. I was wondering if anyone's little one has been through this type of surgery? He doesn't have a severe case of BP as he can use his hands and arm and reach up he does have slight trumpet arm so I am just wondering if surgery is needed this young. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated. We currently see Dr. Abzug at University of MD I believe he trained with Dr Kozin at Shriners. Thanks for listening!
