In The Classroom
• Get Permission from the school administration and/or teacher first.
• Bring cupcakes, or cookies shaped like hands or some kind of treat.
• Read the book Different Just Like Me by Lori Mitchell. Published by Charlesbridge, 1999. This book is widely available and respected as a wonderful tool for teaching children respect for all people. For related teaching materials, 5-day lesson plan and color pages, visit www.differentjustlikeme.com.
• Talk to your child's classmates about what it's like to have a Brachial Plexus Injury. Have them try it out for a while by not using one of their arms or by putting one arm up in the air like it is splinted.
• Hand out bookmarks.
• Hand out silver ribbons.
